Disk Imaging to an Encrypted Drive

Does anyone know of any disk imaging programs that work under XP, or
there own OS, that will work with an encrypted drive? I want to use
TrueCrypt to encrypt an external hard drive and then save disk images to
it for backup. Because of the numerous laws regarding some of the
information being backed up I would like to have it encrypted which is
why I want to use something like TrueCrypt.
I realize that I could back up the necessary files using something like
XCopy or Backup and that would keep the data "safe", but want something
where I can replace a failed hard drive from an image.

What laws might that possibley be,microsoft has no problem with youre task...
Dont forget,a hd that might have xp installed to it as a backup, but
encrypted,
the encrypted hd needs a tool (key) & or a cerificate to access it,how would
one do that w/o a running operating system..

FDCPA, FCRA, HIPAA, and other Federal and state alphabet soup
regulations covering some of the data being backed up. Nevada just
implemented a law stating that all electronic transmissions, other than
fax, going out of the local network must be encrypted if they contain a
name and account number.

,microsoft has no problem with youre task...

I realize that, I was looking for one that could work with the encrypted
drive after providing the key. Looking at Acronis they seem to not
handle them but I may be reading the information wrong. If nothing else
I guess that I could use Ghost to create the disk image files on an
internal drive and then move the files to the encrypted backup drive.
This would mean that I would have to reverse the process to restore the
image. I was hoping to avoid the extra hassle.

Advice for "Kid" A bit of advice for those about to retire. If you are
only 65, never move to a retirement community. Everybody else is n
their 70s, 80s, or 90s. So when something has to be moved, lifted or
loaded, they yell,"Get the kid."
