Disk to Disk copy

Hi,

I have an external hard disk where I backup my files and system backups.
Yesterday, I purchased a larger external hard disk and want to transfer
everything to the new disk.

The only command I have noticed is DISKCOPY which might do this. Will
this copy everything from the source disk to destination disk? Will the
Vista backup directories and shadow (backup) files be copied too?

Is there any other tool (preferably freeware) that will do this for me?

Thank you in advance.

NJ

If one of your drives is ATA and the other is SATA please post back and I
will tell you what to do.

Go get a free copy *for a limited time* of acronis true image 10

http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe

that says is vista compatible, and perform a CLONE of your drive from one to
the other,

then remove the first drive and boot from the second drive

to clarify.. that offer is for a free copy of acronis...

the offer will not be for ever, for a limited time only

the software however will be yours and work forever (not a trial)

My system has "Microsoft® Windows Backup", which as far as I know was
installed with Vista.

I noticed you have to buy PC World to get the CD with Acronis on it. The
February 2009 issue of PC World has no CD in it. Is there a web site to get
a copy?

the link is in my fist reply, register, then click on link that you receive
in your email to get the serial, then you can log on to the site and
download it for free and use the serial to install. I have done just that so
I know it works. The site had too much traffic during the week but now its
working.

There is a website. It used to be on Lifehacker, but they removed it at the
request of Acronis and PCWorld. Too much traffic I guess. You should be
able to find the link in PCWorld or perhaps on the web.

I re-registered and got an email with an identical link to go to. Still
invalid key. I'll try later. If no success, I'll phone them in Massachusetts
tomorrow.
Thanks!
