I recently installed the trial vesion of Diskeeper. But after uninstalling it
the inbuilt defragmentor in windows xp isn't working. It gives an error
message which contains the following:-
Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name:<unknown>
CLSID:{43668E21-2636-11D1-A1CE-0080C88593A5}
I've even reinstalled the defragmenter but it still gives the same error
message.
Any help is highly appreciated.

go to
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...sk/Contig.mspx and
download contig.exe. It is a command utility that does the same as
diskeeper (which is partially based on contig), just a little better. You
can schedule a it within a batch file and you will be fine.
You can also download sdelete, but be carefull not to wipe out your hd...

Click Start, Run and type:

regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll

Press ENTER.

You should now see the following message:

"DllRegisterServer in dfrgsnap.dll succeeded."

See if you're able to launch Defrag MMC now.

Dear Ramesh,
I'm afraid when I followed the steps you told I got the following error
message-
"DllRegisterServer in dfrgsnap.dll failed.
Return code was: 0*80040154 ".Is there any other way ?
