HELP! everytime i try to run disk cleanup i get an error message that says
Disk space cleanup manager has encountered a problem and has to close. i
have no idea what to do. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

run chkdsk on the drive, r-click the drive icon, and select properties,
tools, check now. and have it fix them

I ran chkdsk etc as you said but to no avail. When I click on disk cleanup,
I still get the message, Disk Space Cleanup Manager for Windows has
encountered a problem and needs to close.

Did check disk run on restart? Also how far does Disk Cleanup get before
it errors? We are talking about the one you can start from the "Disk
Properties, General tab.
