Disk Clean-up

I'm using XP Home Edition Service Pack 1. My Disk Clean-
up worked fine and then suddenly it stopped. When I click
on it, it will ask me to select what drive I want to clean
up. I'll select "C" and hit "OK". Then it says it's
compressing old files but hangs up. (The light on the hard
drive doesn't even flash to indicate it's running.) When
the screen appears it already had 4 "blocks" showing but
never goes beyond. Would someone have an idea as to how I
can correct this. One minute it was working fine, the
next it stopped. If I can't get Disk Clean-up up and
running, are there any other suggestions. I do defrag.
Is that the same? Thank you for your time.

Hi Gia,

You could either follow the instructions in this MSKB article to resolve the
problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=812248
or d/load the fix from here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
(line 48, right-hand column -->Disk Cleanup-Compress Old Files Freezes-Undo)
