The computer should run chkdsk if there is an error which has resulted in it
being flagged to do so. NFTS is very much unlike FAT in that it's good at
hiding problems on the drive. While hiding the problem is good if you're not
really too concerned (I, for instance, never ever chkdsk on NTFS systems and
haven't had any issues with it thus far) but if you really want to then you
can always run it manually.
