Discussion web archive

I am trying to find a way to archive a group of discussion web posts and
replies. I would like to have a link to the archives on the main welcome
frame that points to the archives. If someone clicks on the "archive"
link... I would like it to behave like the normal discussion web. That is...
place the subject links on the left and the posts - replies on the right.
Do I have to create another "discussion web" to do this or can I integrate
this into the main "discussion web"?
Thanks for any advice...

Hopefully the current discussion group is in a subweb, which means that all you need to do is create
a new subweb with a new discussion group, and change you current link to the new discussion group.

Then in the old discussion remove the ability of users to post new messages.
