First, note that this really isn't what you call a "discussion group."
It's a newsgroup. You are using the web interface to read this
newsgroup, and that's the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method
there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a newsreader, such as
Outlook Express, which comes with Windows. See

When you use a newsreader, you can have it flag your own posts.
Finding your own messages and replies to them will be much easier.

Well, you should be choosing what newsgroup to post to based on the
nature of your question, not on likelihood of getting a reply.If you
have a Microsoft Word problem, you are much more likely to get the
help you need if you ask in a Word newsgroup than a Windows XP one,
and vice versa.

In general it doesn't matter, and you should ask a question whenever
it comes up. Many of us participate in newsgroups both on weekdays and
weekends. If someone doesn't see your question because you posted in
on a Sunday and he's not available, he'll probably see it and answer
on Monday.
