Disconnect WLAN

I want to definitely disconnect from Internet/DSL. For cable networks I
read a suggestion to unplug the cable, but this obviously is not
appropriate for my WLAN connection.

Currently I activate and deactivate the wireless adapter in Network
Connection properties (reads somewhat different in my German WinXP ;-)

Is this an appropriate way to control Internet access?
Something better or easier?

TIA
DoDi
