I have numerous old messages saved in different folders whose content I can
no longer access. I receive the following message when trying to open:
Message cannot be found. The contents of this message cannot be found.
Windows Mail. This occured after I followed instructions to fix a problem
with an email which could not be deleted. I used WMutil to compact and
repair the data base. Any suggestion on how I might get to the content of
these messages would be appreciated. Windows Mail is becoming increasingly
troublesome. Are there any fixes being contemplated or is Microsoft just
trying to drive customers away from this application which is probably not
very profitable?

Make sure you have any antivirus software set not to scan email. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Also see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm Try searching for *.eml and maybe
you can find the old messages.

Thank you for your help. I was able to find and read most of the messages by
searching on *.eml. I had earlier retrieved some messages by restoring from
a back-up disk. However, that wiped out the recent messages received and
answered between the back-up period. Your solution allowed me to get at most
of these messages. I still can't open some of them. Anti-virus is off.
Windows Mail is closed, but I get a message that says cannot open because
being used by another application or is missing, followed by a message which
says "WindowsMail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be
initiated.
