Disappearing FDD

My FDD has been working well until a couple of days ago it just disappeared
from Explorer.

Device Manager displayed an exclamation mark with error code 39.

I attached a USB FDD and it was recognised and drivers loaded but it too has
an exclamation mark and will not appear in Explorer.

I've deleted these FDD devices several times from DM and rebooted several
times without success.

Does anyone have a solution?

Cheers,
Daniel

See if either of these helps-

The floppy disk drive is missing from the My Computer folder

Thanks, Bill.

KB812489 was the solution. It appears a digitising software package
presumptiously replaced the floppy driver.

After removing the filters, XP SP2 failed to restart normally on 2
occassions and wanted to restore from teh last known good configuration. I
persisted with a normal reboot and it worked on the third attempt.
Everything has been running well since.

Thanks again,
Daniel

You're welcome. Sounds like it got a little hairy for a while. Glad you sorted it
out.
