hi,
anybody know why MS Outlook 2003 removes the & from filenames of
attachments when I ask to open them?

It does this with Excel and Word documents that I've checked, can't say
about other file types yet.

Save them to a file location first instead of directly opening them from
Outlook. When you open the attachmentent directly they will be openen from a
secure temp folder which holds restrictions in the naming convention.

Interesting, this implies that the the operating system/folder structure has
the ability to vary its properties at the individual folder level. Hmmm.

Temporary Internet Files folder isn't "just a folder" ;-)
