Disabling Wireless Network Connection

I'm running WXP-Home Edition/SP2 on my personal desktop. It has a wireless
adapter card. I run WXP-Professional Edition/SP2 on my office notebook with
built-in wireless networking. When I use the notebook with my wireless router
at home, I can readily "enable" and "disable" the wireless adapter. When I
try to do so on my home desktop I get an error message telling me the adapter
is in use by some unspecified process.

Is there any way to determine what process is using the wireless adapter so
that I can stop it, then disable the wireless adapter?

Thanks!
