I want to disable some of my start-up programs, but when i go into the
software explorer, then start-up programs in Windows Defender, the 'remove'
'disable' and 'enable' buttons can't be clicked on (i.e. they have that faded
look to them that Windows does). Any ideas as to how I can fix this?? I'm
using home premium btw.

Start>Programs>Accessories>Run> type in msconfig then click OK.
You can sort your startup Programs from there, and when you do a reboot, it
will be a selective startup, which is fine.

First of all check the properties for the program, the icon in your task
bar, often there is an option to disable auto start

Click "Show for all users" in Windows Defender. This elevates the program,
and thus enables the Remove/Disable/Enable command buttons.
