Will disabling preview pane help limit the amount of spam that I receive. Or
will it not make any difference at all?

If you have WinMail set to block linked images under Tools | Options |
Security (the default setting), then it won't make any difference.
Otherwise you could be tracked by linking to the image on the webpage where
it is located, which would then verify your email address.

And, of course, don't open any attachments.
