Hello--I'm having trouble canceling the automatic send receive when a new
message is sent to the outbox--in other words, I'd like composed messages to
sit in the outbox until I hit send/receive, not automatically once I complete
the message. I know how to do this in earlier versions, but can't figure it
out in 2007. Any help is appreciated.

disable it in send and receive settings - ctrl+alt+s to bring up the dialog.

if you are connected to the net and just want a delay incase you change your
mind, you can use a rule to delay messages up to 120 minutes.
