Hi there,

Is there any software solution to turn off or disable access (read/write) to one of RAM modules installed in PC? I had 4 RAM modules:

2x 1 GB (fast modules)
2x 256 MB (slow modules)

and sometimes i need to turn off these slow 2x 256MB but i dont want to shut down my PC and removed them from the case every time.

I'm afraid there's no method I'm aware of short of physically removing it.

Considering how affordable RAM is today why not simply get another set of 1GB modules and do away with the problem?

Spezi is correct. You cannot disable memory that is installed in the machine. Memory of two different speeds can cause all sorts of issues. Most commonly, the faster memory slows down to the speed of the slower memory. There are times where the system performs below the specs of both memory speeds simply because the machine cannot operate with two different speed memory modules.
