I WENT TO CONTROL PANEL-DISPLAY-SETTINGS-ADVANCED-ADAPTER-PROPERTIES AND FOR
DEVICE USAGE I DROPPED DOWN TO DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE (DISABLE), WHEN I HIT
OK, MY COMPUTER RESTARTED, I CAN SEE IT GO THROUGH THE REGULAR BOOT UP
SCREENS, THEN THE WINDOWS LOGO, BUT AS SOON AS IT LOGS INTO MY PROFILE I HAVE
NOTHING BUT A BLACK SCREEN....HOW CAN I ENABLE THE DEVICE USAGE FOR MY
ADAPTER WITHOUT ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO LOG INTO MY PROFILE???

I HAVE ALREADY TRIED STARTING UP IN SAFE MODE, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER,
HELP!!

Turn on the computer and start tapping the F8 key rapidly just as soon
as the first information of any kind shows on the screen. Keep
tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and choose Safe Mode
from the menu.

At the user logon screen choose the built-in Administrator account to
log into. When it has finished booting up run System Restore and
choose the most recent restore point that is prior to the time you
made the change.

Good luck

Yes - turn off your caps lock please! It's considered shouting and actually
makes your posts not easy to read. Can you write down the actual message
that appears on the screen ending in "mup.sys"?

Instead of safe mode try using the last good configuration from the same start up menu from the F8.
Also you could try using the vga mode to start up with from the same menu if last good doesn't work.

I already tried the last good configuration and it goes to the windows logo
screen and then after loading for a few minutes goes to the completely black
screen again.
I will try VGA mode and see what happens, thanks.

Sorry about the Caps...didn't realize as that is all we use here at work.
When I select safe mode the last line of text that displays is

c://multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys
it freezes on this line of text.

any suggestions??

If you write down and folow these instructions to the letter from a cold
boot , take your time, it worked for me.

RE-ENABLE MONITOR
Boot Windows; give it time to finish loading everything.

1) 'push your mouse UP & RIGHT as far as you can. As you can't
see the pointer, this should avoid any Icons
2) RIGHT CLICK MOUSE
3) UP ARROW
4) ENTER 'The Display Properties opened, though invisible
5) TAB,TAB,TAB,TAB
6) RIGHT ARROW,RIGHT ARROW,RIGHT ARROW,RIGHT ARROW
7) ALT-V 'You are in Advanced settings
8) TAB,TAB,TAB,TAB,TAB
9) RIGHT ARROW,RIGHT ARROW
10) ALT-P 'You are on the Monitor Properties page
11) TAB
12) UP ARROW 're-enabled hopefully
13) TAB
14) ENTER,ENTER,ENTER
'WAIT 5 SECONDS - display properties closed
15) CONTROL-ALT-DEL 'Open Task Manager
16) ALT-U
17) DOWN ARROW,DOWN ARROW
18) ENTER 'Should Shutdown
19) RESTART
