Hello.
I would like to apply a proxy server in Internet Options -> Connections Tab
-> LAN Settings button. Once the proxy server has been set, I would like to
disable this option for all users. I know there are links that show how to
disable this option on a user basis through Group policy. But I would like to
disable the proxy settings for the entire machine / all users through the
registry.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You may find the following of interest:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;823057

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/442/

The above links provide a comprehensive list of all the registry
lockdowns available to IE 6 SP1. I can't find one dealing
specifically with disabling proxies, but you the option remains
to disable the entire internet options dialog, including the
proxy settings.

Best regards,

Altrus

Thanks for your help!
But I have tried the two links below. It doesn't seem to work on Windows
2000 computers. I'm running Service Pack 4 with IE 6.0.2800.1106 SP1.

The first link you gave me works. But users will bypass that step by going
to Control panel to change the proxy settings.

The second link you gave me doesn't work at all on Windows 2000 SP4 for some
reason. But it works on Windows XP.

I'm curious to know if the first link you provided to me has worked on a
Windows 2000 machine. Thanks!

Hi! I have tried the links you provided below. Unfortunately, I want to
implement the policy for the entire system and not per user basis.

The first link you provided seems to work on Windows XP operating systems.
But for some reason, when I try to implemenent they same registry key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, it does not work on a Windows 2000 operating system.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried the same thing on a Windows
2000 computer that works on the entire system instead of per user.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jon!
Thanks for the reply again.
I have tried the link you provided me on a Windows 2000 operating system.
Unfortunately, it still does not work. This is really strange because it
works on a Windows XP operating sytem.
