Does anyone know of a way to disable the second processor in Windows XP
SP5(or on an HP XW 8000) without using the ACPI mode in the device manager?

Thanks for your help in advance,
KJ

Don't know anything about XP SP5, but try to disable Hyper-Threading in the
BIOS. The results may be unexpected.

lol, you know he mean SP2, and disabling HT in the BIOS will do exactly
what the OP wants. It should not cause any problems and Windows copes
with it just fine
