Hi,

When an external modem is turned off at boot, w2k Pro marks it
as "Not functional". The modem is connected to a COM port.

Could this "feature" be disabled?

TIA

Hi Dave,

The dialup modem is off except when needed. Users with admin
privileges are not allowed to go on-line. When a user forgets
to turn it on at boot, s/he must log off, log in as admin,
"find" the modem, log off, ...

So, it's a PITA.

BTW, the modem is USR v.everything. Another USR modem
(Sportster) does not this probles.

Maybe the driver is in error.

Probably. Or, at least, a solution might be in the driver.
I'll take it to a modem newsgroup.

Thanks for your help.
