I have XP Professional and would like to DISABLE the drop down box which saves my email address for messenger. I don't mean to just delete the addresses after each time I long in..... I mean disable the entire drop down save feature. It can be done because I have done it before using "Run" and a command I recieved from a microsoft tech.... but as luck would have it I lost the command to take me to the file/tab that directly deals with XP passwords internally. I'm not talking end user external use but a direct internal function box to turn this feature off. Big thanks to anyone who can solve this problem

Greetings Jake,

Yes you can disable this feature. To do so, download and run the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...lenetcreds.reg
You'll need to reboot to see the change.

Mr. Kay... Thanks you for your help but I would like to
get into the heart of XP to do a manual turn off like I
did in the past.... Do you know the command I can use
in "Run" to bring me to the file/tab that will turn this
feature off????

Hi,

There's no special command, this is a system policy. If you really want to do it manually,
click Start, then Run, enter "gpedit.msc" and click OK. Then go to Computer Configuration,
Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, and then Security Options. Then scroll
down on the right and double-click "Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or
..NET Passports for network authentication" set it to Enabled, then close the Group Policy
Editor and Reboot.
