Windows XP Home SP3.

Everytime when I start my computer, as by magic Outlook Express automatically starts up after I log on.

This is NOT due to a startup entry! There is NO start-up entry that explains why OE starts everytime my computer does. I checked this with Windows Defender; msconfig; manual registry check; Tuneup Utlities 2010 Startup Manager, Startup Control Panel 2.x by Mike Lin; absolute startup manager.

OE was never used on this computer. I tried the registry tricks on this page (http://www.ehow.com/how_4917214_disa...k-express.html) [ --> {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} and for {881dd1c5-3dcf-431b-b061-f3f88e8be88a}, change the value of "IsInstalled (REG_DWORD)" from 1 to 0 .

First registry fix seemed to fix it, after turning the computer on, I got a windows notification that OE wasn't installed anymore and that it would "clean up" (whatever that is - I did not have any emails to begin with). So I logged off, and back on and NO Outlook Express appearing by magic. BUT, rebooting the computer DID start my Outlook Express without any explanation. The second registry fix did not do anything for me.

I also read on the Internet that Norton AV caused this strange behaviour. Norton Internet Security was installed when I started to fix this computer, and was already replaced by me with Avast 5. Still, I had Norton Utilities 14 still running, so to be sure I removed that one too. It did not solve it. So I ran Norton Removal / Cleanup tool to get rid of ALL norton AV related. Still; OE starts automatically : (

Time for a new approach, I installed "Remove outlook Express" (http://www.product-key.com/remove-outlook-express.htm). This program is NOT free, it costs $4. If this is not convenient for you, please check here: http://astalavista.box.sk/cgi-bin/ro...ubmit=+search+ .

This tool DID remove Outlook Express for me.

I wish I could explain what is happening with that freaky Outlook Express that keeps automatically starting when Windows does, without any startup entries. It's a kinda magic ; -/

Some time ago my Dell 8250 computer running Windows XP was "adjusted" so
that Outlook Express 6 would open automatically on start up. This was done
by a 'wandering minstrel' that I can no longer reach. At the time it was
useful and efficient and saved time.





NOW, I am considering moving to Web Mail, and so this "feature" is a
problem.


1. Could someone explain to me how I can remove Outlook Express from start
up so that it will not interfere with Yahoo Mail. At the same time I would
like to keep it available in case I need it again.


2. A related question... how can I easily move my file folders and saved
emails from Outlook Express to Webmail. ?

1) I do not believe there is a clearcut answer within Outlook Express
itself. That being the case, you can open up the msconfig function and

An entry there would have shown up in (at least) Mike Lin's tool.

Curious as to how "OP" managed to remove OE (with their pirated tool) and
