Perhaps look in the motherboard manual, or post to asus group?

Usually an option in the bios setup. If its an Award bios, press delete key
immediately after turning on the PC. This will enter the bios setup.

My advice: ask in a hardware group. Your question has absolutely
NOTHING to do with the OS.

Section 2.5.1 of the manual. "VGA Share Memory Size" [Disabled].
That is the only BIOS setting I can see. Otherwise, the detection
of an AGP card should be automatic. When an AGP card is plugged in,
assuming it is detected, the onboard VGA should be disabled by the
BIOS.

There is a forum here, where you can look for similar problem
descriptions. At least one guy got an AGP card to be recognized,
so it does work.

Gerry, I thought the same thing--then thought, "Maybe he posted this
same message in another, more fitting group first"; altho' I see no glaring
signs of it. sam

Yes it is - it is about hardware and it's interaction with the OS.

How to disable the video board on your mainboard has absolutely
NOTHING to do with the OS as it is done via BIOS, which runs LLOONNGG
before the OS starts to load.

Can see why you would think that way.

My thoughts is one can't ever get XP to work properly if you can't do what
you need to do in the bios setup. Most need just a pointer in that
direction since the rest is a simplistic menu using the keyboard. There are
many nuances regarding hardware at the bios level. Sometimes overlooked
when taking the user down the XP fix path, when a bios adjustment would be
very simple. So, I believe the newsgroup should remain open for all bios
related questions and replies. And let MVPs learn as well.

Look at the group title: windowsxp.hardware. That is pretty simple:
issues involving the OS AND hardware. Therefor, if it's involving the
BIOS before the OS loads, then it is OUT OF PLACE here.
