To unbind IPv6 from a NIC in Vista - In the start box type:

ncpa.cpl [enter]
right-click the ethernet or wireless connection you are troubleshooting
select Properties and acknowledge the UAC prompt
Uncheck IPv6 and click OK

I would be interested in why you want to disabe it. (actually Vista does it
already, by putting it's IPv6 packets inside IPv4 packets with a device
'hidden' by device manager called a "Teredo Tunneling pseudo-interface ")
(ipconfig /all)
You are probably seeing the expected 'status' dialog for the lan saying
"IPv6 Limited" and are thinking that that is why your router is slow. But
that's a guess. If so, there is a fix. Set the Properties of the Ethernet
device to a speed that is fixed, like 100 mbs/half duplex. Restart.

Go into the TCPIP properties of the network connection you want to
disable IPv6 for, then uncheck the IPv6 checkbox. Reboot.

not a good idea, the first addresses are being released this week making use of IPv6.
if you disable it these internet addresses will not be available to you.

is there some reason you feel the need to have it disabled.

??? there's been some use of IPv6 for quite a while now, so there are
already Iv6 addresses in circulation.

They won't be anyway unless you have applications that can speak IPv6.
I'm sure there are some around now, but very few people have them. And
once you had them, you'd have to have an IPv6 capable network:
routers, DHCP servers, web servers on the other end, etc, etc...

Now THAT's a good question. If you're like 99.6% of us these days, it
really doesn't matter. That will probably change at some time in the
future, but...
