HOW TO: Disable Internet intalation and trace virus/worm source

Using Win XP SP1

I know it is possible to make worm aware operating system.
Usually I have java, object scripting and other internet trash disabled,
but it seems that there is more trash to kill.
It is a pitty that to access some Microsoft pages I have to enable all
that trash.

I would like to know:

1. how to disable all Internet trash that is EXECUTABLE or INTERACTS
with the system.

2. how to trace the worm source.
