I ran the Dx diagnostic tool.
All tabs reported 'no problems found'.
DirectDraw ,sound and music tests all ok.

All 3 Direct3D tests gave, not the smoothly rotating
Dx cube, but just the surfaces (the X and the text)
rotating with fast jerky movements.
All 3 tests reported ok.

I installed the Jun2007 Dx update, no change.

I reinstalled the graphics driver (ATI catalyst 7.4),
all the Dx features were greyed out and display
sluggish.

I downloaded and installed the Jun2007 Dx
redistributable, no change.

I did a 'repair install' of XP home SP2, this restored
the Dx features but the Direct 3D tests were still
jerky.

I have just installed the latest driver (Catalyst 7.5)
and the Dx features are now all greyed out.

Help needed.

I have a second problem.
After the 'repair install' i couldn't download updates.
After deleting at '%windr%\softwaredistribution' i have
downloaded but cannot install updates.
If this is unrelated i will repost.

I've just done a second 'repair install' and Dx appears
to be working normally.

I've no idea what i did to create this problem, and i'm
sceptical that it's just the combination of catalyst 7.5
and jun2007 Dx that has fixed it.

I thought you would like to know.
