Hi all. I jsut got a new widescreen monitor for Christmas, pluged it
into my laptop, and got it up and running. Looks beautiful at
1440x900, and I have it set up to be hte primary monitor with the
laptops internal monitor disabled.

So then I tried to start up World of Warcraft, and no matter what I did
it refused to enter a widescreen resolution. Following some clues
elsewhere, I rand dxdiag and discovered during the tests that DirectX
itself was forcing the monitor into a standard resolution (which is why
WoW wouldn't do it, since it relies on DirectX finding good
resolutions).

So what's going on here? How can I fix this? I'm using an old
GeForce4Go card with the latest drivers from nVidia (minorly tweaked to
install properly on the laptop).

Update your version of DirectX. The latest version is 9.0c.

You need a VIDEO CARD that supports Wide Screen resolutions,
along with the correct video card drivers. An old GeForce4Go video
card will not support wide screen resolutions.
