I'm trying to install DirectX 9.0 over 7.0 on a freshly formatted Win2k
Pro box. However, every time it gets to the installation, it pops up a
warning that the digital certificate is invalid. If I click OK it exits
with a "DirectX could not copy a required file" error.
I've *tried* all of the suggestions listed in the big Windows KB on
this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798
However, there is no Cryptographic Service listed in the services panel
whatsoever, and half the directories the KB tells me to modify don't
exist.
I've also tried:
-using the Control Panel to tell Windows to ignore certificates
entirely.
-downloading DirectX9.0 from numerous sites, including the web install
and a local install procedures
-completely updating Windows and the video card drivers via Windows
Update (including the root certificates update)
I've seen this question asked all over the internet, but I haven't
found anyone who has stated they found a working solution. Has this
ever been resolved?
Thanks
