Dear all
I have just started out with XP pro, I have DX 8.1
installed, I have a few progs that need DX9 to be
installed,
HOWEVER, upon trying to install DX9 I get the error message
"Direct X 9 is not compatable with this version of
windows".

ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANYWHERE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Where are you trying to install DirectX 9 from? Have you tried the Windows
Update site? Or here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dir...ctx/downloads/

Have you made sure you have downloaded the correct version for your OS ? I
got mine from Here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
and i am using WindowsXP Pro. Download the DirectX 9.0b Redist version and
NOT the webupdate one as this contains all the files you need. It is however
35+ MB in size so it`s a hefty download
