directx 9.0 PLEASE HELP

ok.....i am trying to download directx 9.0! i get to the point where it is
installing components, and all of a sudden i get this error, "[ A cabinet
file necessary for installation cannot be trusted.] what happens now...how do
i get it installed, because i really want to play the demo for half life 2!
