Mission: Possible....someday :-)

Trying to delete one directory.

What eye have tryed.

1. Boot in safe mode- won't let me delete, says I don't have
permissions. hmmm.(logged on

as Admin.)
2. Boot using a floppy boot disk - it can't see any drives ??
3. Tried deleting us Bart PE CD

Sow your seed in the morning, and do not stop working until the
evening; for you do not

know which activity will succeed – whether this one or that one, or
whether both will

prosper equally. Ecclesiastes 11:6

What happened with Bart PE? That should not care what you delete.

Bart PE uses XP, so it isn't an independent OS like I thought.

What also puzzles me is why my floppy boot disk doesn't see the
drives. C and D
Maybe XP infected my BIOS too. Just kidding. :-)

I think most in this group are reluctant to use the "b" word. (B_ _ )
to describe
anomalies.

Your floppy disks will not see an NTFS drive and you need to elaborate more
on what you did with BartPE. The explanation you gave does not make sense.

Shouldn't matter. BPE isn't hooking to any of the folders on the hard
drive.

You're booting with a DOS disk that can only read fat32. Your drives
are formatted to NTFS.

Exactly what is the name of the folder?

Bart PE does not care about the permissions and such on your hard disk. So
what exactly is the issue with Bart PE?

The name of the folder is 2.

I explained in other posts that I had re-installed XP on another drive
than what XP was originally on.

I have got most things working great, just want to get rid of the
pesky c:\2 that doesn't wanna go.

When I used Bart PE, I got the same error messages I got when running
from the hard drive.

I haven't read the other posts. Do you now have XP on 2 drives? If so,
boot into the other one and try to remove the folder.

Have you tried any utilities?

Thanks Terry.

I have used several utilities. I think this is a new problem not seen
yet or not posted about.

I am confident there is a fix or work-around that will be found.

My 2nd drive is a FAT 32. One option would be to disconnect drive C:
and install XP on the other drive.
But since XP uses a "points system", the new drive may be enuf to fail
and it is also a much smaller drive.

Andy

I got the problem fixed. Because I did so many things, when I get more
time I will type up a help tutorial and post it.

Thanks,
Andy
