but when i try to play game, its says i need dirext x 8.1
or higher
wats goin on???

If you have 9, you have 8.1. Does the game refuse to play?

Run dxdiag from the Start/Run line. Flip through the various pages and make
sure that everything reports an OK status. Also note the DX version on the
first page. You might want to run the supplied tests for all graphics
functions as well as for sound and music functions.

If in doubt, go to the DX home page and re-install 9.0a.

Is the problem for all games you try and run or just one particular game.
Please post if it is a particular game. Have you looked for upgrade patches
etc for the games. Also do you have the latest graphics card drivers
installed. Prefereably not beta unless you know for sure the beta drivers
fix specific issues you have.

all DIRECT X (dx) grades are on the downloads as they are
designed to use that Dx and not lower , If you have Dx9
and the game requires Dx8 it will run so ignore the Dx8
info . It is a minimum requirement of the game system
