DirectX 9.0b is available for download from Microsoft, Nanette. Windows XP
already comes with 8.0, and is easily updated. One should never install a
lower version of DirectX, since they're backward compatible.

will install it for you, however I think the highest you can get free on the
net is 7.0 something. The something mean's there is a number after the 0.
Or it could also mean that the Direct X that was installed was installed
improperly, so you are going to have to find it, then figure out which is
the problem. Hope that help's a bit.
