I have apparently successfully installed the game "Hulk"
for my son, but when he tries to play, there is a Direct
x error;

D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
Code:2156, facility:2166, severity:1

Can somebody please tell me how to fix this. I have
Directx 9.0 installed and the diagnostics tell me
everything is ok.

Hi Dan,
Could you post a copy of your DXdiag information here to help us with
this? There is other information in there that may point us in right
direction.

Thanks for your post!

Dear Dan,
A Direct X error usually mean's you don't have the correct Direct X for that particular game. I do believe that some game's come with the 8.0 and will install it for you, however I think the highest you can get free on the net is 7.0 something. The something mean's there is a number after the 0. Or it could also mean that the Direct X that was installed was installed improperly, so you are going to have to find it, then figure out which is the problem. Hope that help's a bit.

DirectX 9.0b is available for download from Microsoft, Nanette. Windows XP
already comes with 8.0, and is easily updated. One should never install a
lower version of DirectX, since they're backward compatible.
