The Direct Cable option is missing in my transfer method menu on my old
computer. Does anyone know what that could be?

Do you mean your file and settings transfer wizard ? mine is -
accessories-syestem tools then it has connecting your computers "in blue" on
the connecting your comp.

Do you mean your file
start-accesories-syestem tools-file and settings transfer wizard. in the
last box in blue it say's connecting your comp's
