Not long ago someone here asking about the ink smearing issue with the
Epson Artisan xxx. Since the man said he doesn't do self-stick label, but
didn't not say what he does. He also use SureThing too

Here, I have been using 2 PhotoStylus 9xx, and replaced after reset the
Waste Ink Pads few times, the CD Trays and roller wore out that I taped the
tray with thick layer of tape but only last for some months.

I upgraded to RX680 and got short-circuit and the printer burned for good.
And I just bought the Epson Artisan 725 for $99 to replace the RX680.

And this is the difference that I have noticed.

1. With all other Epson Direct CD/DVD printer I can print using from TEXT ->
Text & Image -> High Photo etc. and they all came out great.

2. *BUT* with the new Epson Artisan 725 I have to use TEXT only mode, if I
use Text & Image then there will be much more ink on the disc, and it will
take awhile to dry.

It's possible that there may be something wrong with the disc themseves (I
tried few with same result), and I will try on newer pack tommorow (this
pack still have around 10 disc left).

Or this model may have some special setting which I haven't looked at.

If you don't use inkjet to print photo (even you do), I still suggest to
go for refillable ink catridge and refill your own, especially you use to
print DVD label (as I do).

And if you use or want true (or better) BLACK then you may go for BLACK
only catridges. Or a set of black catridges from Blakest to lighter
greyscale.

With color ink catridges, it will use some color because in some or most
cases BLACK may not be truely black, but greyscale and greyscale is the
mixture of different colors. IOW, BLACK ink will always print black not
greyscale (or at least very dark greyscale not light)
