--Guest computer is windows xp, Host computer is windows ME. When
attempting to connect through either and both computers I have no luck. Host
computer says" waiting to connect via Parallel cable on LPT1. Is the guest
computer running? And on the gust computer I get a "verifying username and
password..." and it never verifies. No user name or password is selected for
the host computer. Any ideas? Did I miss something in the set up? Both
computers are set up for direct cable connect on LPT1.

I was under the impression that XP, like 2000 and NT, will not allow you to
connect over LPT ports.

Direct cable connection will work but the XP system must be the host and the
ME the client.

First, connect them together and turn them on.

Second, run the network setup wizard on the XP system, at the end you'll be
asked to make a floppy to copy files that must be used to run things on the
ME system, take the floppy to the ME system and run the setup on the floppy.

Third, make sure both are in the same workgroup and folders/drives are
shared.

The direct cable connection through the LPT1 ports were options on both
computers in the set up wizard. I've been through the wizard several times
trying differant configurations with no luck. They still won't connect. Got
any ideas?

Jerry,

Here is the kicker..My XP machine has no 3.5 floppy drive and the ME machine
will no longer reconize the CD drive (even replacement drives) so I have no
way of running the set up wizard for XP on the ME machine. Any suggestions?
