Direct Cable Connect on LPT1 Port

I get the message "the network path not found" When I
enter the name of the host computer. On a Windows XP
computer as gust and a Windows 98 computer as host with a
direct cable connection on the parallel ports that both
computers show they are connected.

If some one can give me some ideas on what to do next I
would appreaciate it.
