diling from compyter shows busy though the line is not busy

How do I get to the modem properties like pulse/tone, volume ets which were
set during the installation of the modem?

Also I am trying to send a fax and it after these tone dialing signals it
says busy ans stops. However when dialing from a telephone set, the line is
not busy and the modem on the other end replies
