Digital Video Device Problem

Have connected a SONY DCR PC 100 Digital video recorder to my new PC with XP
SP2.

XP finds the sony correctly and registers it correctly (I think) but
afterwards, when choosing "My Compter" from the Start Menu or opening
explorer, Windows XP takes 3-4 minutes to search for all available devices
and folders. If I try to browse a folder in ANY application menu, same
proiblem. Once the search is completed, response is normal until the next
time i do the same from any new app or from explorer.

If I remove (uninstall) the sony from control panel, everything works fine.

I can capture and use the sony DV camera fine and there is no delay in
connecting to it.

Have been unable to find new drivers on microsoft.com or at Sony.

Suspect this is SP2 related as the same config (XP, sony DCR PC 100 and same
firewire card) existed in an earlier PC pre SP2 and worked fine.

Any ideas?
