In a hardware groups, we generally build our own equipment
(i.e. screwdriver, lots of white boxes full of finished goods).
Some of these companies (your Digital Tiger), give themselves
a hefty profit. (Which may or may not be justified, when it comes
time to get customer service.)

In this case, the only challenge, might be in the
operating mode of the desktop. With four monitors,
the drivers support Clone and Span and Extended and the like.
Sometimes, the exact operating mode you might like,
doesn't work out of the box.

For inspiration, you can look through this gallery,
and see what their desktops look like. In this
particular example, two dissimilar video cards
are used to drive four monitors.

I've even simulated a four monitor setup here, using
a FX5200 PCI and an FX5200 AGP, but because driver
updates for those cards has stopped, I wasn't able
to test a current driver. I couldn't get the
Task Bar across all four monitors. (I only have one
physical monitor, and I use PrintScreen to prove
what the entire desktop looks like.)

So you'd want to buy video cards, that still had driver
support. If you buy something too old, like those
cards, that would be a bad choice.

The computer you build, might not be any more
expensive than any other computer. (Ignoring the
cost of the monitors of course.) There are some
pretty cheap video cards available now.

You can get a video card for $40 that will drive two monitors.

Example of a motherboard to hold the two video cards. One in
the blue slot, one in the orange slot. The blue slot,
nearest the processor, is considered the primary slot,
for lack of a better name.
