My camcorder (JVC GRD-73) has anologue to digital passthrough capabilities. I wish to capture movie files from VHS to the PC. I have linked the VHS to the camcorder and camcorder to the PC using Firewire. The capture window in MM2 shows the images from the VHS but as soon as I ask it to capture it starts playing the miniDV cassette and sends its contents thru firewire to the PC.

In MM2 can you not capture directly from info coming from Firewire without MM2 ordering the camera into action.

I can capture the images by recording the VHS to camcorder and then outputting camcorder images to PC but this is double the work required.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Robert,

See the Problem Solving > Checklist page of my site.... In the section about
Limitations, there's a link to a utility that Microsoft issued last year to
help with pass-through.
