has anybody experienced blue screen crashes when you connect one of these
using the USB bus, it's an insignia and I get a 04 error code, so I imagine
it's a driver issue, as it wants to load a picture viewer from the keychain
to my pc.

My wife wants to use it for our wedding pics to transfer them to the keychain.

Check with the keychain manufacturer's web site. They should have decent
instructions on how to work with their picture frame.

Appreciate your response, I've done that, no other instructions.

I figure it's one of those cheapie things that I'll toss and get one that's
better made and doesn't crash the pc.

I have tried to help with 3 of these devices.

The first part of your first figuring seems to be the ultimate figure.

I have not seen realization of your second figure.

That's probably a good idea. Want to keep the wife happy, you know :-)

It also makes practical sense since the novelty will soon wear off and
the digital wallet may command a higher resale value than a scratched
up keychain that has been is the pocket or purse.
