With OE, it looks like you have to:

Go into the Address Book. Choose to look at Properties of an email you want
to associated with an ID, then select the Digital IDs tab.

Then, Import an ID.

It seems that to Import you need to have a file at hand.

The way I obtained a file to Import was:

In IE, Tools> Internet Options> Contents> Certificate> Personal.

Then I chose to Export the personal certificate which produced a file of my
own filename choosing.

The file created is simply residing on my desktop at the moment. I think it
might be a SST file.

Of course, this is the file I chose, under the Digital IDs tab when in
Addres Book, when I Imported.

So, I think I'm sorted.

But, am I doing things the right way, or is there a more conventional way to
set up a Digital ID, without creating a file? TIA.

You have a locally trusted certificate then which is not trusted by anyone
else. You must obtain trusted certificate via a certificate authority like
VeriSign;

For more see;

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

Here is the link for the right forum

Good Luck!
