Running XP, I have installed a digital camera. It
installs properly, I can see it in "Control
Panel" "Scanners and Cameras". I can also see it
in "Hardware" under "Device Manager". Both places
indicate that the camera is installed and working
properly. However, it doesn't show up in explorer and
therefore I can't download pictures from it. Any ideas
out there?

Have you formatted the media with the camera?

If it "installs properly" it should work. Try using device
manager to remove the devices and the USB ports/hubs and
then reboot and follow the installation instruction exactly.

This would mean the camera is not an MSC (mass storage) device. Since
everything looks OK in devman and the control panel, the device (which you
do not tell us what it is) may be a PTP camera. To access it, any
application that can import from a camera/scanner will be able to give you
your photos if you want to edit them directly. But if you just want to get
the pics on your computer, use the "Scanner & Camera Wizard".

From the start menu, click on All Programs and select Accessories. The S&C
Wizard should be there.

good luck!
