Difficulty Removing Red Flags

Hi:

I'm running on Outlook 2003.

Something has changed in utilizing the program and oftentimes I have
difficulty removing the Red Flags from E-mails in my Inbox after I've
followed-up on them. I have to attempt to remove the Red Flags several times
before they'll finally be removed. And sometimes I have difficulty
designating an E-mail as a new Red Flag E-mail, too, and will have to try to
do that a few times before it will work, too.

In trying to remove the Red Flags I put my mouse over the Red Flag, right
click, and then left click on "Clear Flag". And sometimes I right click on
"Clear Flag" instead when I'm having difficulty removing the Red Flag and
occasionally that works.

Do you have any recommendations for me?

Thanks.

Jim

does restarting outlook fix it? do you have all the updates installed?

I occasionally have similar problems with flags but it seems to go away with
a restart of outlook.

Well, the problem has persisted for 1-2 months now, and I've restarted
Outlook many times since then.

Do you have a recommended link to go to for updates for Outlook 2003?

Thanks.

click on the windows update link on your start menu or go to
office.microsoft.com and click the link for updates. Oh, and the Help menu
in any office product should have a link for updates.

Are you using Exchange server and cached mode? If so you might want to
delete the ost and let outlook rebuild it. Scanpst on pst files may also
help.

Thanks.

I looked through the first 40 or so updates for Outlook 2003 and I didn't
see any pertaining to the problem I'm having.

I'm not using Exchange server.

My Outlook 2003 software is a standalone version and not part of the entire
Microsoft Office software package. Can I reinstall Outlook 2003 and keep all
of the E-mails that I currently have in Outlook? Or will I need to lose all
of those E-mails?

Thanks.

use Help, Detect and Repair - it will fix anything that uninstall/reinstall
will. Try running scanpst.exe on the pst.

Do you have all of those updates installed? Let outlook check for updates
and install them.

Diane:

I just did the Help>Detect and Repair routine that you recommended, created
and removed 10 Red Flags on E-mails, and everything seems to be working OK
now. So thank you for your help.

1) How do I run "scanpst.exe on the pst"?

2) When I check for avaiolable Updates for Outlook I get taken to a page
with a long list of Outlook Updates on it. How do I know which ones I need
and which ones may have already been installed on my computer?

Thanks again.

Jim
