Using Excel 97; in trying to access a couple of my Excel files, I receive the
following error message: "(file name) cannot be accessed. the file may be
ready only or you may be trying to access a read-only location or the server
the document is stored in may not be responding." In the past there has been
no problems in opening these files. They were never saved as 'read-only'. I
am stumpede...any suggestions? thanks

This doesnt sound like a FrontPage question but;

Did you store the Excel file on a CD then copy it back to your hd?

In any case, browse to the file with Exploder, select the file, right click
and view Properties, there you can change uncheck: Read Only
