I have recently installed a Wandoo Wireless Broadband connection (using
Wanadoo's Livebox). I am able to access the internet as normal form my User
account however not connection can be established when I try from any of the
other user accounts, even though they are set up as administrators. I have
tried all the standard things and have also spoken to Wanadoo (not much help
there). I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Any suggestions as to what I
might be doing wrong?

Thanks
John F

You might have to do one of two things. A) Install it on all user accounts.
B) Re-install it and see if there's an option during the installation
process that gives you the chance to "install for all users" as there should
be in any good application.

Another idea would be to see if you can simply set the users to never dial
or try to use the Network Connection Wizard to tell it you're using a
broadband connection that's always on with each of the accounts and bypass
the software entirely which is usually the best solution and the easiest if
you don't have a great deal of accounts to do.

Galen,

thanks for the reply, but unfortunately neither of your suggestions resolved
my problem. I have even tried totally uninstalling the software and then
reinstalling using another account but it still only works on my account.
Have you any other suggestions?

Thanks,

John

Are you sure the other accounts are also admins? This is beginning to make
less and less sense to me so I can see why you'd be a bit lost too.

To recap here and to make sure I understand...

You installed some software to make a broadband internet connection.
You installed it on your account.
The other accounts are admins and they can't access the 'net.
Installing the same software on their accounts doesn't work.
Uninstalling the software and using the Internet Connection doesn't help.

Okay... If all of the above are true then do you have a firewall installed?
Is there a router that's preventing access and only granting access to one
username? Are you 100% certain that your system is malware free? Well, how
about 99% certain? We're never 100% certain. With *MOST* broadband
connections you simply need to make sure that the user has permissions to
use the NIC and that the Internet Connection Wizard has been run properly
(by selecting broadband connection that is always on is the most common
method) and things should run smoothly after that.

What are we missing here?

Thanks again Galen, but no luck! I have answered you questions in CAPS below

Are you sure the other accounts are also admins? YES This is beginning to
make
less and less sense to me so I can see why you'd be a bit lost too.

To recap here and to make sure I understand...

You installed some software to make a broadband internet connection. YES
You installed it on your account. YES
The other accounts are admins and they can't access the 'net. YES
Installing the same software on their accounts doesn't work. CORRECT
Uninstalling the software and using the Internet Connection doesn't help.
CORRECT

Okay... If all of the above are true then do you have a firewall installed?
YES BUT HAVE TRIED WITH IT DISABLED
Is there a router that's preventing access and only granting access to one
username? Are you 100% certain that your system is malware free? Well, how
about 99% certain? We're never 100% certain. With *MOST* broadband
connections you simply need to make sure that the user has permissions to
use the NIC (HOW DO I DO THIS?) and that the Internet Connection Wizard has
been run properly
(by selecting broadband connection that is always on is the most common
method) and things should run smoothly after that. TRIED THIS BUT UNSUCCESSFUL

What are we missing here? DONT KNOW BUT IT MUST BE SOMETHING SIMPLE SINCE
NOONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM

I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU EFFORTS AND HELP SINCE I HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OTHER
AVENUES THAT I KNOW OF. THANKS AGAIN

First let me tell you that I lost your post as it became unflagged somehow.
I have no idea how or why but I found it again though it's now a few days
late. Second I've spent a great deal of time searching for your answer and
the closest thing I have come across is some site stealing our conversation
and posting it in their forum. Oh well, if they're that unimaginative and
want traffic that bad I guess I won't complain.

Needless to say no one has responded at that thread in that post either. Go
figure?

So now I've revamped my search and I'm starting it again where I probably
should have started it in the first place... (At the Wanadoo help site...)

Try this link:

http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/help/connec...s/x****ues.htm

There's a download all the way at the bottom which you might want to
download and install. I don't know if it will work but if it doesn't then
I'd call their support line.
