You'll need to purchase a "Full Retail Version"
of Windows XP Professional and proceed with
a "Repair Install". XP Home cannot be installed
over XP Pro.

|I want to install a purchased version of xp on a friend's
| computer that had 95 then they installed xp pro over the
| top with an xp cd from a laptop they have. The 30 days
| went by, now they can't get into window. Can we get a
| new purchased copy and put that product key in somehow,
| does it need to be pro or can it be home. Basically I'm
| wondering if it's possible to take care of this without
| having to do a clean install so I can keep all the files
| and programs installed.
|
| thanks for any advice, hope you understand my question
