I heard the 5550 is a great printer with a low cost-per-page.

Is the 5650 the same as the 5550, only better? Does it use the same ink
cartridges?

The both use the same #56 black, #57 tricolor and #58 photo (to use the
#58, you remove the #56 and put the #58 in it's place.)

The 5650 is slightly faster and has a higher monthly duty rating (5000
pages/month vs 3000 pages/month.) It also has a larger paper tray (150 vs
100 sheets.)

Do you have an icc profile for the #58 color cart with HP Premiun Plus
Glossy paper (not just the Premium). I have been trying to find one for
the 9650 which is the 13 inch wide version of the 5650. ?

Pretty much and yes. The 5650 is like a 5550, but the 5650 also supports full
bleed photo printing. Full four sided no border prints can be made on various
photo paper sizes from 4"x6" to 8.5"x11" with the 5650. The DeskJet 5650 uses
the same #56, 57 and 58 ink cartridges as the DeskJet 5550.
